Trigger Point Dry Needling

What is Trigger Point Dry Needling (TPDN)?

TPDN is a treatment that involves inserting thin, solid filament needles into muscles and other tissues with the goal of reducing pain and improving mobility. It is used to address myofascial, muscular, and connective tissue dysfunctions. The filament needles can specifically target trigger points, which are taut bands of muscle tissue, and elicit a twitch response to help release areas of restriction. It can also be used to simply stimulate a muscle or tendon to promote healing, or to address chronic pain. TPDN can be performed with electrical stimulation attached to the needles to stimulate increased blood flow to the injured area during treatment.

Trigger point dry needling can be performed on its own but has been proven to be effective when combined with other classic physical therapy treatments including (but not limited to) strengthening, stretching, and manual therapy techniques. All of this is provided at Strive PT!
